Flower Power - A tribute to Mimi Bondi

Hello and welcome

today the winter has arrived to Norway and my hometown Bergen. When I get up this morning the temperatur was about -1c (minus one celsius). Thats cold! But at least we have sunshine in Bergen and that's the great part ☺

Anyway, I am reading the fantastic book of Mimi Bondi from the Sunny side of life: "No shenanigans". Do you remember me getting the book? I told you about it on my previous blog post. You can see the blog post here

I have chosen one of her wonderful artwork and gone step by step and made this:

I just love these flowers and the intense colours. This is my preliminary favorite painting!

It's a bit odd to make warm flowers when it's winter out here ☺

I think it was absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much, Mimi for your fantastic tutorials and inspiration. I must also say that I think it was very nice to read the book too. Many good tips and humor. I would recommend anyone to buy this! Yes, it was the current advertising *LoL*.

Thats all for today, folks. I will soon come back with more. Make sure to stay tuned ☺

The ultimate Christmas house with a little twist

Hello and welcome
I've been very busy lately, both with a few social dinners and family visits, but also accompanied my eldest daughter to the hospital for her monthly medicine. Getting the Multible Sclerosis (MS) medication that she must have take even a whole day at the hospital. A little stress for both mother and daughter. So while we sat there I thought hmmm it's almost Christmas, maybe I should show the stylish Christmas house that I have made in between battles.

And here it is - my christmashouse. I am very proud of the results ☺It was so much fun making this madhouse

And here - just because I like you so much, is a step by step tut. of how I did this marvelous house:

I started with a canvas shaped like a house and gesso it

and took out my tim Holtz stencil called Holliday Knit and stenciled with red and green acrylic paint, like a panel on the house.

the roof is made of watercolor paper in 100 lb, cut into a bunch of small round triangles, and painted with gold paint

then I find my Rubber Dance rubber stamps Giraffe, Deer and Pinecones and stamp them on a tag with Archival Black ink, then I collored them with Distress Ink and cut them out.

I painted with yellow and white in the windows to get the effect of lamplight from the inside of the house. I also stamp the girafe and deer in the window, just to gain a little shade

and here is the animals and the pinecones in color

I stamp the beautiful snowman with Distress ink on a tag

I colored the hat with Distress ink

and the rest of the snowman with promarker pens

I glued a lace ribbon at the transition between the wall and the roof before I glued all the tiles on the roof

I took the snow paint and pushed a litle snow on the roof,  window sills and bottom of the wall with a big brush

I glued some bling up under the eaves for icicle effect

and here is some close ups for my project

I am in on the Challenge with my christmashouse at:

Art Journaling with Tim

Hello and welcome

I got totally random over this blog called Vintagejourney and they have going on a challenge called Art Journaling with Tim and I thought hmmmmm this is just perfect for me. Because I love Tim Holtz's stuff (you know what I mean) and I love Art Journaling so here I go. This  is my contribution to the challenge:

Ps. I am sorry for the quality of the photos.

In my big Dylusions Creative Art Journal from Ranger I've used Tim Holtz tissuepaper Melange, I've used Tim Holtz Butterfly stamp from the Perspective collection, I've used - of course, Distress Ink in brown colours and some purple, and I've used Tim Holtz Small Talk.

At the background I used Tissue paper from Tim Holtz Idea-ology and colour it with brown and purple Distress ink with the mini blending tool. The picture I find in my stuff, used my patternscissors and cut it out, then I coloured around the edged with Distress ink Vintage Photo.

I used a Manilla Tag for the sentence and inked around the edged with my mini blending tool.

Then I glue some ribbon at the botton of the tag.

I stamped the butterfly with purple and pink Distress Ink on a tag and cut them out.

Then I glue it all down on my page. And it turned out this way. I hope you like it. I do!

With brave wings she flies
and
collect beautiful moments

I had a moment when I created this page. I get peace in mind and feeling kind of happy. It was a moment I tell you.

This is a bit away from my ordinary colours and a bit away from my sort of theme, but I realy liked it and I think I maybe will do more of this colours and theme in the future.

Any way, I'm in on the challenge at Vintagejourney and I do hope you like it.

Hope to see you soon again. Thank you for visiting.

Hugs, Anita

Topsy Turvy canvas

Hello and welcome

I hope you are feeling fine. I am in the mood for something Topsy Turvy today☺ And just because of that I am join in on the Challenge over at Our Creative Corner - which is exactly Topsy Turvy theme.

Today I want to show you this upsidedown canvas I made.

This was really fun. I began to tear various papers into pieces and pasting them on the canvas a litle here and there.

As you can see the canvas is a little bit pink. That's because it is a used canvas that I was not happy with and painted over. So obviously something shining pink through, but it does not do any thing.

Some of the paper I used is actually answers from exam in tax law at the University of Bergen - upsidedown. How cool isent that!☺ The exam are handwritten and the paper are lined so I think they are very fine and can be advantageously used in mixed media art . I've used Matte gel medium to glue the pieces on the canvas and then dried with heat gun.

For the colur I've used Pan Pastel. They are just georgeus!  I have not used them before so I was a little excited about how it was to work with. I loooove them, though!

I though I need a little black so I grab the beautiful Heart from Rubber Dance Arty Hearty and stamp some here and there. I also used a stamp from Pick a number to get some circles, for as you know circles is the shape that appeals to most people. It is researched that circles provides peace and tie together so it suits this piece where everything stands on its head ☺

I used white poscapenn for some splatter, and my paint brush to paint a purple frame in non-perfect shape. That's because in a world where everything is upside down (except your heart) nothing is perfect.

And for that I really would renew me today I've used one of these great chipboards from EyeConnectCraft - the broken heart.

I painted it with gesso first since it is brown basically.

Then I painted it with Purple Dylusions paint and scattered purple glitter on it. I took eyelets in each hole and threaded silver wire through so that the heart was connected. Then glue it with a little glue on each side og the heart on the canvas so it's just stand out of the canvas.

And voila - here it is!

I hope I inspired you to go on with the art, and that in your life sometime the world must be upside down just to get on the right track again ☺

All the stamps i've been used is from Rubber Dance and the lovely chipboard heart is from EyeConnectCraft.
